Thank you KIII-TV for sponsoring our third annual book drive.

We are asking Coastal Bend citizens to donate (recycle) any gently used baby or children's books for use in the Early Bird Reader Program. We're looking for books for ages 0-5, which means lots of colorful illustrations with 50 words or less. We can also use older children's books for rewards for the readers.

The book drive will be at KIII-TV studios at 5002 South Padre Island Drive from 5:30 AM to 6:30 PM on Friday, March 26th. If your neighborhood, church, business, or organization wants to start collecting books now to turn in the day of the book drive, let us know and we will schedule a time for you to get on TV when you bring your books in! Last year we collected 1432 pre-K books and 845 usable older children books (rewards for the readers) which is enough for 3 boxes of books for each of our participating schools this year. We also collected $700 in cash and checks which purchased approximately 300 new books.
